Hello all. Excuse me if this has been requested before because I am new to dotProject. Terrific program by the way!

The custom fields for Company and Task are nice but I have a greater need for custom fields by Project. I am using DP to manage RFP responses for my company and I'd like to be able to track such things as the dollar value of the RFP, the sales rep that submitted the RFP, the region the sales rep works in, the issue date of the RFP, the type of products and services being requested, etc...

I suppose I could put these things into the Project Description but I'd like to be able to run queries against the database so I can report on these values. For example; Display a count of RFPs by region.

I checked out bugs and suggestions but did see a way to enter a request for a new feature.

RFP's don't have much to do with managing a PROJECT specifically. Normally, they are more related to manageing the interactions with client(s) and/or contracts. I would suspect that this will be deemed outside the scope of the project.

One thing that definitely *IS* within the scope would be a RFC (Request for Change) Manager when requirements change and schedules must be tweaked to reflect it.

My 0.02.

In my case, managing a response is a project indeed. They usually take about 30 days to respond and involve many different resources from the organization (Legal, Operations, Sales, Subject Matter Experts, Writers, and Finance to name a few). Everybody gets assigned tasks and the Project Manager is responsible for pulling it all together. We manage the responses from the time they get registered at corporate headquarters through delivery to the customer.
