Is there a way to transfer a 'Contact' to a 'User'?

Hello everyone.

I am newbie here at DotProject. I have just uploaded several contacts through vCard into the 'contact' list. I would like to add many of these as users. Is there a way to do this without having to retype all the information?

Unfortunately at the moment there is no easy way of doing this. I suppose if you were desperate enough you could do some moving of data via the database - but it may be quicker just to recreate. Do not forget to set up user permissions otherwise the logins will not work - FAQ's has details on how to do that.

Is there a way we can then transfer this thread to the 'Feature Request' area. I don't know anything about coding, but if we can have a checkbox on each contact that says 'add as a user' and vice versa that would save alot of time. It seems that all the info that is asked for both user and contact is the same, so I'm not sure if that would be too difficult. I also don't think it would take away from the user friendly focus of dotProject.

I also just wanted to say that it really is an amazing program. Keep up the good work and hopefully when I learn some php I would love to help out. Until then there is cash. :)

Move done - although I've got a very vague feeling that there is another request of a similar type somewhere. If I find it I'll combine them together.
