Trouble turning off Companies, new project still require it

I have turned off companies and now I cannot create a project, it says I need to create a company first.

Is turning off companies not really possible or what am I missing here?

Well...if you turn off company, then you need to modify add the places where it requires company, as in the project creation page as you found out.

I assume by "turn off", you mean from the module setup view, while it is done in a general way so all the modules shows up there, I personally don't believe turning off companies makes a lot of sense, even if you manage only projects for your own company, you still have at least 1 company...

You can create a project if the user has at least read-access to one company. Give him read-access to the company he belongs to in the user-admin, i think this is what you wanted.
